Knotted or woven, in any case, handmade carpet from a traditional carpet-making area These are Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Tibet, the Caucasus (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Dagestan), Turkestan, China. It is certainly no coincidence that it is in the above geographical areas that the craft of carpet-making developed. In other climatic zones, this would not have been necessary, or even animal fur was used for this purpose.
